3.5h domestic flight south. Eat king crab at El Viejo Marino, hike Martial Glacier. Ushuaia is the last city before Antarctica — stock up on any last-minute gear.
Day 4: Embark in Ushuaia
Board Quark’s World Explorer at the port. Safety briefing. Sail Beagle Channel at sunset — sea lions on the buoys. The adventure begins.
Days 5-6: Drake Passage
48 hours of open ocean. Lectures on polar history, marine biology. Seabird watching from the deck. Seasickness meds on standby. Then — the wind drops, the PA crackles: you’ve arrived.
Days 7-14: Antarctic Peninsula & Circle
8 days of daily zodiac excursions, canoeing through ice mazes, SUP on glassy polynyas, polar plunge, and camping at the foot of a mountain. Penguin colonies (Adélie, gentoo, chinstrap), red algae on snow, ice fishing, research station visits. Antarctic Circle crossing ceremony at 66°33′45.9″S. Day 17: Ushuaia → Buenos Aires
Disembark, one last look at the Beagle Channel, then USH → EZE. Shower that’s longer than 3 minutes. Eat a proper steak.
